I've had many, many years on this site, starting from when I was about 11-13 years old? I can't even remember, and I've met such incredible people on here. It's a shame but I think I'm going to put this account to rest, take all my work back, and restart somewhere else.
Honestly, as much as this site has had me, it hasn't really helped me grow as an artist. I've had to do all that myself and I just really see no point in continuing on DA anymore. I know I've gotten quiet the reputation thanks to this site, and that Jeff VS Slenderman video, but that's just not me. It's not who I am as an artist, it was a fleeting interest that helped me improve my work a tiny smidge. I want to be able to do what I want when I want without having to conform to the image that this site has of me as the 'creepy-artist-girl', among other things I don't think about this site.
First off, there are way, waaaay too many kids here. There are kids what shouldn't even be on the internet on this site. It floods this website with all kinds of 'art' that just kind of overtakes actual art. It's hard to get exposure here unless you're a big badass like Sakimichan or Artgerm that have been on here for the longest of times. It's the same rules as YouTube, where if you didn't catch it during it's development, that's it, buddy.
Secondly, there's been all kinds of things said bout DA and it's privacy and it's actual care about artists creating content. Granted, most of the content I've seen being stolen by giants such as Hot Topic are under the category of 'fanart', which, can stem off into an entire different argument altogether. That aside, an artist STILL created those pieces and is STILL getting ripped off by both DA and Hot Topic (and God knows who else), because DA is totally fine with giving our stuff away, royalty free to a third party: (I'm going to paste this over from the post I read on Tumblr)
"3. License To Use Artist Materials. As and when Artist Materials are uploaded to the DeviantArt Site(s), Artist grants to DeviantArt a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to do the following things during the Term:
a) to prepare and encode Artist Materials or any part of them for digital or analog transmission, manipulation and exhibition in any format and by any means now known or not yet known or invented; (DA can post them on their website and edit them in any way they see fit)
b) to display, copy, reproduce, exhibit, publicly perform, broadcast, rebroadcast, transmit, retransmit, distribute through any electronic means (including analog and digital) or other means, and electronically or otherwise publish any or all of the Artist Materials, including any part of them, and to include them in compilations for publication, by any and all means and media now known or not yet known or invented ; (They can publish your art in any media, use it to showcase their website or even promote certain groups without your knowledge. For all you know, your art could be promoting the KKK.)
c) to modify, adapt, change or otherwise alter the Artist Materials (e.g., change the size) and use the Artist Materials as described in Section 3(b); and
d) the right to sublicense to any other person or company any of the licensed rights in the Artist Materials, or any part of them, subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement. (They can edit, change, or otherwise modify your artwork in any way they want, as well as sublicensing it to third parties, such as Hot Topic.)
e) Artist acknowledges that Artist will not have any right, title, or interest in any other materials with which Artist Materials may be combined or into which all or any portion of Artist Materials may be incorporated. (By posting on FA, you forfeit your right to dispute any third party profits or copyright infringements upon your art.)
f) During the Term, DeviantArt’s licenses under this Agreement include the right to use any part of the Artist Materials in the promotion, advertising or marketing of the DeviantART Sites. (DeviantArt can use your art to advertise anything they want.)
g) As used in this Agreement, the term “Artist Materials” means any content uploaded to the DeviantArt Site(s) which may include without limitation Artist’s name(s) (including professional names), trademarks, trade names, likenesses, photographs, biographical materials, audio-visual materials, artwork, liner notes, and other graphical, textual, video, film or audio materials and any and all “skins,” computer-generated images or other artwork or images that Artist submits to DeviantArt in any medium or format whatsoever. (ANYTHING you submit to DeviantArt belongs to DeviantArt now. Including your drawings, your photos, videos, your stock materials, your music/audio, your written stories, and your artist name.)
So I don't like that. I don't like that one bit, especially because my artist name, my art, is mine, and I was too young and an idiot to read through the agreement. I don't like how DA operates, so I've decided that I just don't want my art up here anymore. I'm taking it down and taking it back. I made it and that's my own right to do so.
I'll be moving to sparrowsnest.tumblr.com to host any and all BP work from now on while I get my life together. I'm still working on it, just slowly, since really, finding a job has been difficult this past year and a real blow to my self-esteem as not just an artist but as a person. I've also made a patreon to see if I can put a bit of a dent in my expenses and keep food on the table too. You can read more about it below:
Oh and a little extra for all you BL-loving Yaoi fagirls out there (who are trash just like me), I've also got a BL-centric blog at mossybrows-draws.tumblr.com for lots of ZoSan and other goodies!! My patreon is actually centered around BL Art alongside some Hetero-NSFW and SFW pinups and stuff, so please do check it out! Just pledging $2 really helps! I JUST put it up last week, so you'd really be doing me a solid by supporting me as an artist, then maybe I can actually think about the possibility of making a comeback with Blue Pact. www.patreon.com/mossybrowsI'll keep this account up to respond to people's questions in the comments below. No, I don't have time to go through all my notes and I'd really just deal with everything out in the open, embarrassing questions or not. I don't care anymore, better to just lay it all out there for everyone to see, read, and understand for themselves.
EDIT: Will give you a follow on your tumblr-acc.

Hot Topic selling artist's works without permission
A Tumblr post has been circulating, where Hot Topic is selling artist's works as T-shirts in their store, including popular fan art without the artist's permission, deviant artists included. It caught on wildfire when one user linked to deviantART's Submission Policy, stating users gave permission to dA by agreeing to their Terms of Service thereby allowing dA to sell it to third party royalty free.
This is false and inaccurate!

Good luck !
Well I am following you on Tumblr. Only problem is that I don't use it that often to be honest. I will go there every so often but not to much. But I will look out for your things ovo)9
Despite what people say about tumblr and tumblr users being 'too uptight' and 'too sensitive' it feels like a safer place for me as an artist because everyone knows they're being policed!
But regarding the rip-off stuff. I feel like that can be found anywhere to be honest. While it may be harder to do it on some sites I have seen people from here post journals that someone form "this and that" site have copied'/stolen their work. So I mean, hopefully it wont happen on Tumblr, but it might happen. So I guess what I'm saying is that you shouldn't get your hopes to high up for that. I am not to be mean though, just a warning.
